About PING PING is a family company founded in 1959 in Carstensolheim's family garage. Kirsten's frustration with her own putting was fuelled by the "ping" sound that was heard when she hit the ball. This led to the development of a putter design. Today, PING prides itself on innovation, quality and service in the golf world, and continues to do so into the future. |
Product development that brings innovation to golf equipment Karsten has been a lifelong engineer, honing his engineering skills in the aerospace and computer industries. Karsten and PING are credited with introducing many innovative theories to the golf club industry that are now industry standards, including perimeter weighting, custom fitting, and investment casting. Karsten's rigorous engineering philosophy and commitment to exacting manufacturing tolerances have dramatically improved product performance and quality in the golf industry. Karsten (who passed away in 2000) is the only golf club manufacturer to have been inducted into the Golf Hall of Fame for such significant achievements. Today, PING headquarters in Phoenix, USA, under the direction of Karsten's youngest son, John A. Solheim, develops innovative PING products to help golfers enjoy the game of golf. PING products are now available in more than 70 countries around the world. |
